UNEC Philosophy
At UNEC we believe that great projects are achieved by great communications skills together with the interaction of construction technology and management. Our internal quality management processes ensure that projects develop in a comprehensive yet straight forward manner with ease of usage for all relevant parties from Contractor through Consultant and Client.
UNEC believe that the best results, and therefore the best projects, are achieved by teamwork between all the Project parties. We therefore endeavour to understand the needs of the Client and Consultant and work in harmony to achieve those goals.
UNEC is constantly aware of our earth’s dwindling resources and employs the concept of environmentally friendly materials and construction methods, value engineering, energy conservation and life cycle costing on all projects. The result is cost effective clean healthy facilities that are economical to operate and maintain.
Construction is the blending of Function, Planning, Organisation, Co-ordination and Control. UNEC address each of these factors in the construction process within the constraints of the contract budget and construction schedule.
Successful planning for a project is the key to ensure that all the goals and objectives of the Client and end user of the building are met. UNEC liaise with all parties at the initial programming phase and thoroughly research their requirements incorporating these into our programme of works. The programmes are continually being updated and improved as the project proceeds in order to provide the optimum effectiveness, a critical activity to ensure that these goals and objectives are achieved.
Primary Processes
UNEC maintains a project approach that ensures that decisions are made in good time for procurement and construction. We follow a consistent, well managed process of investigation, information gathering and documentation which enables the construction process to proceed effortlessly and efficiently by working pro-actively.
UNEC project management maintains a consistency and focus throughout the project duration by providing a single contact point, our site specific Project Manager. Due to the communication through this single contact the Project Manager, holding responsibility for all day-to-day activities, has full knowledge of all the project history and is able to ensure clear correct documentation of the project from pre-contract to issue of the Performance Certificate.
From receipt of tender documents up to completion of contract performance UNEC maintains a high level of quality control and commitment to provide a quality product. During the bidding process the drawings and specifications are fully examined in order to provide the Client with the most advanced technological solutions to meet his criteria of standards and budget and this process continues up to Contract and throughout the construction phase. Should any changes be required during the process UNEC are able to evaluate and absorb these into the construction process and endeavour to offer solutions to the benefit of the Client.
At all times it is the policy and goal of UNEC to complete a project within time and within budget
Quality Assurance/Quality Control
Quality Assurance and Quality Control are paramount to the activities of programming, documentation and the construction process. UNEC ensure that all construction aspects are completely co-ordinated and that the product is received and installed to the required specification by fully trained operatives to the highest standards. UNEC demonstrate our commitment and actions by our continued certification to ISO standards 9001: 2008 (QMS), 14001: 2007 (Environment) and 18001: 2004 (OHSAS).
All projects are serviced by trained quality control engineers who are responsible for checking the materials, equipment and installation and reporting their findings to the Project Manager. Non-compliant materials or equipment should never get installed.
UNEC develop a project schedule at the commencement of the process in order to provide a smooth transition towards the completed project. This schedule incorporates the expectations of all the parties to the process and is continually updated to facilitate any changes that may occur.
